M-Obelisk

Eb Clarinet & Electroacustics  ( 8'50'' )

This work is a hommage to architect Santiago de Calatrava. It is inspired in his Obelisk built in Madrid, Spain, and tries to explore, once more in history, the relation between architecture and music. The piece, composed as an "hoquetus" between clarinet and electrocustics, follows the monument structure, divided into 12 steps. Its melodies are based on wavy ellipse forms, as used at monument external shape. Except clarinet candence, it is the first work completely generated with DM-D. It has not still live recorded, so following excerpt is clarinet sinthetized.

Three Andalusian Recitatives

Bowed Psaltery & Electroacustics  - Psaltery: Luis Robles   ( 16'20'' )

Inspired in arabic-andalusian music, the work was composed both in Madrid and Marrakech. The whole electroacustic part is done with DM-D, and the psaltery voice is conceived as a pseudo-improvisation over that part. It has three movements: Jerez, with quotes to Albeniz's Iberia piece. Jma El Fnaa, inspired in sounds from the famous square at Marrakech. And Hammam, based in the experience of the visit to one of them. Following excerpt is taken from Hammam.

Xrima Eleison

Mixed Choir & Electroacustics - Choir: Capilla Renacentista   ( 8'10'' )

This piece is a paraphrase from mass Kirie Eleison. The text has been modified, also in greek, to "Xrima Eleison, Noisi Eleison, Xrima Eleison". It was composed previous to world financial crisis but finally it has become quite related to it. The text translation is "Money be mercy, Mind be mercy, Money be mercy", which explains itself and contains references to buddhist philosophy. Vocal parts are hand made in renacentist motet style, and most electroacustic part has been generated with DM-D.

Syrinx Party

Flute & Electroacustics - Flute: Yurena Duque  ( 6'50'' )

This is the first piece composed with Designing Music technology, and a homage to Syrinx, Debussy’s well-known piece for flute, from which I take melodic quotes and borrow the flute atmosphere. "Party" refers to the superposition of techno rhythms within the piece, in search of an integrating and post-modern aesthetics that I already experimented with in prior works, such as the Techno-Rondo around the Name of Bach. In Syrinx Party, all contents have been generated by DM-D, except the percussion and the flute, which was handwritten.
